I think my job might have me located at that same corner! The challenge seems to be finding and relocating other "real estate investors ".

Great real estate. Personally, I'm wanting to invest at the corner of Need & Neighborhood. Keep us posted at the CityReaching(.org) Wiki -- especially as we're collecting great content for our "New Media for Urban Change" course. Next week is our Social Networking for Impact unit... So I'm scurrying to find & tag great social networking research items which are up-to-date.

Well said.

"The poor of this world are rich in faith." (James)

"It is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven." (Jesus)

If we really believed these polarizing verses, our suburban churches would start actively mining (faith) resources from the inner-city, instead of vice-versa... and our churches would totally change. And as a result, lives & communities would change.

We've been talking about our sphere of influence a lot lately.

That sphere involves more than just our "personal space". It involves the "dirt" or land we've been entrusted with; our responsibilities in the work place; in our homes; and it involves our relationships.

I'm heading to a family get-together this weekend. . . but for a happier reason. . . my little sister is getting married ! ! !

I pray that I'm able to follow your example by recognizing and bravely walking through any doorway of opportunity that presents itself this weekend.

P.S. Please know that you and your family are in our prayers.

Thought I would try your page out...

I can understand about the personal prayer time - life seems so filled at times. And I know you know about this one, but I just need to say it: we also need the personal time alone with the Lord. That's to read His Word, to study His Word, and also to fellowship with one another. These are all so vital in our daily walk with Jesus Christ. But so is "sharing" God's Word wherever we find ourselves.

This "God-thing" wasn't really in Aberdeen, but it's sort of related. I went home a couple of weeks ago, back to Eagle Butte, on a business trip -- I didn't really want to. In fact, I postponed the trip twice - but God was working through my boss and I found myself on my way to Eagle Butte two weeks ago. I went down on a Thursday and returned on Friday. Thursday evening, I went to visit my sister. She had three kids - two girls and a boy. They are all in their thirties - my nephew passed away about a month and a half ago. So I thought I'd better see Sis while I was home. She turned 61 on June 1st. As we visited, there was an argument between her daughter and her grandson.

To make a long story short, I was able to share the gospel with both my sister and my niece. Neither made a decision for the Lord yet, but I would have missed an opportunity if I had been able to postpone the visit again.

Now, my prayer request is for God's protection over my sister and niece as they consider making a decision for the Lord; also pray for comfort and peace for my sister as she still grieves for her son and for my niece as she continues to grieve for her brother.
